What HUH? What's up with that? is all about!

A positive person who enjoys life and life's challenges. That's me. Sure, we all have our bad days, but limiting that kind of mindset is vital to my overall well-being. The theory of never having a bad day, some are just better than others is appealing. That's me. Not normally known as a smiley person, I am in reality as happy as the next person and on any given day perhaps even happier. So, my blog is not meant to be a constant gripe about other people, but rather a glimpse of reality. The intent is not to be a downer, as much as it is a reminder we are all human and as such, we sometimes say and do things without thinking, regardless of age.
I first noticed a discrepancy in how I was treated by younger people as I cruised through my 60s. Innuendo, a certain level of impatience, rude comments, lack of thought, disrespect, the now famous roll of the eyes, I was apparently fair game for all of it. The majority of encounters with 20, 30, and 40-somethings is actually quite pleasant and the interaction is enjoyable. However, those aren't the ones remembered. Less pleasant interactions have made it to permanent memory and it is these instances I will recreate for your benefit in a weekly blog. My observations seem to conclude we don't honor or respect our older citizens like other countries. Different societies seem to treat older people differently and some are treated more kindly or given more respect.
I vividly recall walking in a mall in Indianapolis when two oriental women were walking toward an older oriental man. Both women stopped a couple feet in front of the gentleman, put their hands together palm to palm, fingers toward the sky, and with elbows extended, bowed slightly. Before proceeding, the two younger women stayed in their place and waited for the gentleman to pass them. Now, I don't ever expect that to happen to me, but such an amazing display of respect was awesome. Clearly, the two women recognized someone of their own nationality, and just as clearly, they were quick to show their respect for the wisdom passing before them. It is my intent to write a story every seven days or so.
So, tune in next week. Maybe you've even experienced something like I'm talking about and you quietly wondered HUH? What's up with that?
