 oddities, observations, & ?'s...#17

Some of the following content was written four months prior to publishing this post.  I elected to keep the original work intact.

The White House portrayal of a former president and First Lady as monkeys is OBAMA-NA-BULL..

  HUHWhat's up with that?

It was fun to follow Fernando Mendoza and the Indiana Hoosiers Football team through the national championship game.  A championship is incredible for IU, players, coaches, and, fans.

The word of the year for 2025?  Two numbers, 6 7.  I like the idea of younger people not giving 6 7 a meaning.  It keeps people like me mystified.

This may be the all time greatest line spoken in frustration by a First Grade student.  Regina and her colleague were praising a few students for their work when out of the blue from across the room, Chris yelled, Hey, what about me?

A friend of mine won $100,000 on a 10 dollar scratch-off ticket last September.  Two weeks ago, I witnessed him scratching a $50,000 winner at the supermarket.  It was a perfect time to borrow Chris' line.

Louisville has another hair salon  This one is called, The Chop Shop.  Clever, but, not a great look is it?

I consider myself fairly strong willed. Just don't put a box of Cheez It,,,Extra Toasty in front of me.

This city now has three more coffee shop chains added to a never ending list.  Dutch Brothers is the latest company to open a store.  Google says they have over one thousand locations nationwide.

Regina's cousin, Juston, saw the latest Avatar creation.  He said it was awesome.

Buffalo Bills quarterback, Josh Allen, had to be fuming.  His last throw of the game last December was a chance to win the contest between the Bills and Eagles.  An errant pass caused him to miss a wide open receiver in the end zone

Several family members drove down from Indianapolis to Caesar's in New Albany last December for a few hours of chancey fun.  My son, Jeremy, coordinated the event. He flew up from Florida for the day.  We capped off the night at Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse.

A team of Arkansas high school students have created an app that spots potential mouth cancer by using a cellphone.  I call that a game changer.  They entered their creation in a national competition and won the $50,000 first prize for their school.

More words I use or have used that will never be spoken by my grandchildren.  Sheckel, zilch, nincompoop.

How long will it be before retailers change their longstanding pricing techniques?  Any price that ends with nine cents surely is on the way out due to the demise of pennies.

Do people who talk baby talk to their dogs think the altered pitch and tonal quality will bridge the species divide?

Congress is finally doing something about the amount of water coming through my showerhead!  The House passed legislation that would make Trump's long standing, Make Showers Great Again, a reality.  It took 11 Democrats to cross the aisle to get the job done, but, they did it!  It is not known if the Senate will take up the issue and questioned why Republicans are spending time on the issue.  So do I.

Live and let live is wonderful in theory, but, I struggle to accept people who wear PJ's to the supermarket.

Are all children born with a gene that says they will like fried chicken legs?  I can't recall seeing a child eat any other part of the bird.

The popularity of canned fish of any type is nothing new to the George Brothers.  Our dad routinely opened a can of sardines, placed one on a saltine cracker and added a dash of lemon.

Any Tom Hanks motion picture is worth my time.  We just watched  a 2022 movie titled, A Man Called Otto.  In one scene, Otto is sitting in a bakery having a cup of coffee with a neighbor talking about his deceased wife when he said, I am black and white, she was the color.  That is a line worthy of, You had me at hello.

A series of health issues have prevented us from traveling.  The latest is a case of  shingles around my left eye.  We hope to be on the road soon.

Coming up:  another oddities, observations, and ?'s,  and;  a What's the Story?

And, finally: Researchers in Japan have developed a groundbreaking marine-degradable, plant-based plastic that dissolves in seawater within hours offering a major solution to ocean pollution.

 HUH What's up with that?
